Astro Boy: Tale of the Blue Knight Production Cel (Tezuka Productions, 1999). Astro Boy attempts to save a building from collapse in this spectacular original production cel from the animated theatrical short Astro Boy: Tale of the Blue Knight. Released on 7/20/1999, this film was screened at Tezuka Osamu World in Kyoto, Japan. Like many of the other Astro Boy shorts screened at the museum, this film never recieved and English dub, and original production artwork from the obscure film is especially rare and highly sought after by fans of the great Godfather of Manga. Seen at approximately the 8:20 mark of the film, this piece has an eye-catching hand-painted image area of 13.5" x 9.75" on the 14.75" x 10" cels. The piece is composed of an elaborate five cels displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes. The cels show stapling in the upper and lower edges, and otherwise show minor handling and edge wear from normal use in production. A magnificent heroic image of one of the most emblematic anime characters of all time, the condition of this must-have piece is Very Good.
