Description
Astro Boy Production Cel (Tezuka Productions, c. 1980-81). None other than the amazing Astro Boy is presented here in this phenomenal original production cel from his 1980 color series. Created by the legendary Godfather of Manga Osamu Tezuka, Astro Boy (known in Japan as Mighty Atom) is the posterchild of the global phenomenon known as anime. Inspired by the classic cartoons of Max Fleischer and Walt Disney, Tezuka created Astro Boy with large and emotive eyes that would become a defining feature of the genre's aesthetic. The first Astro Boy series premiered in 1963 with this color adaptation arriving approximately two decades later in 1980 overseen by Tezuka himself. Hand-painted to half-figure, Astro has an incredible character size of 5" x 7" on the 12 field cel which is marked B10 in the top right and has been paired with a print background for display purposes. With typical handling and edge wear including slight linework fading, overall this quintessential Astro Boy cel is in Very Good condition.More information about Tezuka Productions.
