Description

Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter Production Cel Art Props Setup (Walt Disney, 1951). "Sugar, just two spoons! Just two spoons!" The Mad Hatter fixes the White Rabbit's watch for good in this scene from Disney's animated adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Offered here is an extraordinary and very rare hand-inked and hand-painted production cel of the Mad Hatter that appears around the 44:49 mark. The incredibly large 5.5" x 7.5" image has been meticulously trimmed to the outline and mounted on an airbrushed background to form a one-of-a-kind Art Props setup. The incredibly fine inking on this cel is a testament to that lost art. Because Alice in Wonderland was released in 1951, it was not a part of the original Courvoisier art program of the late 30's and early 40's and predated Disneyland's Art Corner Gallery by four years. As a result, original production cels from the film are some of hardest to find, especially The Mad Hatter. This is a true show piece for any Disney animation collection. The piece has been professional restored and is in Very Good condition. It is in a 14" x 18.5" frame under glass with a mat opening of 6" x 8". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
