Description

Alice In Wonderland Deleted Jabberwocky Scene Production Cel and Background Animation Art (Disney, 1951). "Beware the Jabberwocky" was a scene filmed, but not included, in the 1951 Disney animated feature production. Based around a song to have been sung by comedian Stan Freberg, the sequence was determined to be "too scary" for children. Art for this scene was used in books, and the sequence was eventually included in an educational film, Alice in Wonderland: A Lesson in Appreciating Differences. This set-up has a freighted Alice looking behind her (on an acetate overlay), as the fearsome, glowing-eyed beast appears beyond the trees. The background is original art done in gouache on five-hole illustration board, with an image area of approximately 12" x 9", and the piece is matted and glass framed to an overall 18.5" x 16". Both the acetate overlay and background art are in Excellent condition.
