Description

Alice in Wonderland Cheshire Cat Production Cel with Preliminary Production Background (Walt Disney, 1951). "Why, you're a cat!" "A Cheshire cat. All mimsy were the borogoves..." The Cheshire Cat begins a third chorus before he is once again interrupted by a curious Alice. Presented is magnificent hand-inked and hand-painted original production cel featuring the maddening Cheshire Cat. Seen at the 39:34 mark of the film, this cel is displayed on a gorgeous preliminary production background rendered in gouache on board, closely resembling the final background in the film. Backgrounds of the film were created by the crack team of Ray Huffine, Ralph Hulett, Art Riley, Brice Mack, Dick Anthony, and Thelma Witmer from the color and styling of Mary Blair, John Hench, Claude Coats, Ken Anderson, and Don Da Gradi. This substantial 16 field setup is matted with a window size of 14.5" x 10.5" and an overall mat size of 23" x 19". Minor handling, and the condition of this fantastic piece is Very Good.
