Description
Alice in Wonderland Alice Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1951). "In this world, perhaps. But in my world the books would be nothing but pictures." Alice is daydreaming about her world and what her books would look like as her sister is trying to discuss history with her but in this hand-inked and hand-painted cel, Alice is more interested in pictures than words. From Walt Disney's adaptation of Lewis Carroll's acclaimed stories Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, theatrically released almost 75 years ago on 7/28/1951, the film follows a girl named Alice who finds literature without pictures to be a bore and would rather live in her imagination. One day during a lesson she notices something in the distance that's out of the ordinary: a rabbit wearing a jacket and using a pocket watch. Alice finds her courage and chooses to follow the rabbit even down a dark hole that leads to an extraordinary world that has no rules, unless you know how to make them. The inquisitive Alice was voiced by Kathryn Beaumont who not only played one titular character for Disney, but two as she was so impressive with her modeling performance at the age of ten as Alice, she was chosen by Walt Disney himself to portray Wendy in Peter Pan (1953). Alice was animated by Walt Disney's revered "Nine Old Men" and Disney Legends Marc Davis (1913 - 2000), Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008), Eric Larson (1905 - 1988) and Milt Kahl (1909 - 1987). This is a perfect item to add to any Alice in Wonderland or Disney collection! The large, trimmed cel image of Alice can be seen at the 2:47 timestamp of the film. The character's image measures at 9" x 7.75" and is displayed over a print background for presentation purposes. The overall condition is Good with minor paint loss and crack in white, slight warping, and some handling wear and edge wear.Auction Info
