Description
Akira Tetsuo Production Cel and Animation Drawing (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1988). From the influential anime film by Katsuhiro Otomo, Akira, we have in this lot an incredible hand-painted production cel displaying a prime image of Tetsuo, wearing his iconic red cape, accompanied by its matching animation drawing. Through this spectacular film, we witness Tetsuo's tragic descent into madness triggered by the rapid development of his psychic powers. This fantastic 13.75" x 9" three-layer cel can be spotted during one of the key moments in the film, as Tetsuo finally finds Akira, and just before realizing that the powerful Esper died long ago, with only his frozen remains left. The cel shows Tetsuo measuring 5.25" x 7.5", presenting also the steam around him. Numbered B6 in the top right corner, Tetsuo's animation drawing features the character rendered in graphite and colored pencils. The cel layers have adhered together with the linework presenting mild fading. Faint paint residue can be seen on the drawing. Overall, the condition is Very Good with minor handling and edge wear from production.Auction Info
