Description
Akira Kaneda Production Cel and Animation Drawing (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1988). "There was one more of us." Kaneda is in the spotlight with this lot, showcasing a terrific hand-painted production cel from the epochal anime movie Akira. Pausing the movie roughly at the 19:06 timestamp will reveal this exceptional image of the leader of the Capsules in his distinguishable red jacket, appearing as he tries to convince one of the officers that Kei was part of his group to help her get out of trouble. The 14" x 9" cel is numbered C13 in the top right corner and features Kaneda with expressive body language, measuring 8" x 6.75", shown on a printed background for presentation purposes. The lot includes the fantastic matching animation drawing used to shape the scene, done in graphite and colored pencils. The cel presents mild fading on the linework and is taped to the background with archival artist tape. Some paint residue is present on the animation drawing. With overall light handling and edge wear from production, the condition is Very Good.Auction Info
