Description
Akira Kaneda, Kai, and Kaori Production Cel (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1988). "Tetsuo..." We have in this lot an outstanding hand-painted production cel from the influential anime film Akira, featuring Kaneda, Kei, and the beaten Kaori. This 13.75" x 9" three-layer cel was used to animate the scene at the 30:01 mark of the film, as Kaori regains consciousness after the assault of the Clowns and walks towards Tetsuo, concerned about her boyfriend's brutal retribution against one of the gang members. This cel features a rare image of Kaneda in his pink shirt, measuring 6.75" x 7.5", with the shocked Keisuke behind him, standing at 3" x 4.75", and a 3" x 4.75" Kaori, wearing Kai's jacket, with a bloody nose and black eyes. This lot is offered on a printed background for presentation purposes, taped to it with archival artist tape. Both cel layers have adhered together. The linework shows mild fading. Overall, the lot shows minor handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.Auction Info
