Description

Disneyland - "Haunted Mansion" Stretching Room Portraits SOLD-OUT Limited Edition AP #5/30 with Hitchhiking Ghosts Studio Print (Walt Disney, c. 1970s). The phantoms of the hilariously haunted stretching room have returned with the hitchhiking ghosts and are ready to be a part of your collection in this lot with a long sold-out limited edition artist proof lithograph joined by a studio print of one of Marc Davis' concepts for the hitchhiking ghosts. The stretching portraits and hitchhiking ghosts were both designed by Disney Legend and one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" after he retired from the animation department and moved to WED (now Imagineering) to help bring attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and the Haunted Mansion to life. The Mansion opened in 1969 after seven years of construction and remains a fan favorite after over 50 years. Both showcase the humor Davis brought to the spooky characters with the lithograph numbered 5 of only 30 created. This was Marc Davis' copy and is impressive in size at roughly 32'' x 24.25'' while the rolled print is on 17'' x 11.5'' paper. The signature here is a part of the print, though still a cherished look at the making of these ghosts. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and faint edge and handling wear and light toning on the rolled print.
From the Disney Legend Inductees Marc and Alice Davis Archive.
