Description

The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show Mr. Peabody and Sherman Scene Cel Signed by Jay Ward (Jay Ward, c. 1980s). Here is a delightful hand-inked and hand-painted scene cel featuring the stars of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show's "Peabody's Improbable History" segment: Mr. Peabody and Sherman. This beloved segment premiered in 1959 with the Ben Franklin episode, and it ultimately ran for a substantial 91 hysterically historical episodes. Virtually none of the series' original production cels have been archived. To meet the demand of collectors, scene cels were created and sold at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium located next to Jay Ward Studio on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. This is a rare early Peabody and Sherman Scene cel, signed by studio head Jay Ward (1920-1989). Cels like this were not usually signed, but Mr. Ward would gladly autograph them if he happened to be in the shop. Adding to its rarity is Sherman's blond hair, which was normally red. The characters measure approximately 4" and 5" tall, respectively. The piece is presented in an 18" x 14" mat with a window size of 9.25" x 6.75". Minor handling and edge wear, and the condition is Very Good.
