The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show Bullwinkle Signed Scene Cel (Jay Ward, 1990). "Eeny, meeny, chili beanie, the spirits are about to speak!" says Bullwinkle. "Are they friendly?" asks Rocky. "Let's listen!" is Bullwinkle's response before they cut to commercial. This is the dialog for one of the best-known sponsor interstitials in TV animation history. Because this show was animated in Mexico, virtually all production art was discarded. To meet the demand of early collectors, hand-inked, hand-painted Scene cels were created and sold at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium (1971-2005) on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood. These cels were originally sold unsigned unless Mr. Ward happened to be in the store at the time of purchase. Most Bullwinkle scene cels feature him in orange, as Mr. Ward preferred it over brown; however, a few were made with him in his original color. This is an exceptionally rare Bullwinkle in brown signed by longtime directors Bill Hurtz, Gerard Baldwin, and studio head, Jay Ward. The cel is dated 1990, and Mr. Ward passed in October of 1989, so this is certain to be one of the last Scene cels sold with his signature. It is in a mat measuring 16" x 20", with an opening of 10" x 12". Condition is Fine.
