The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show Aesop and Son Scene Cel (Jay Ward, 1989). The Dudley Do-Right Emporium opened in 1971 on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood and was a fixture until 2005. Since virtually all of the cels from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show were painted in Mexico and routinely thrown away, very few exist today. To satisfy demand, the store painted up Scene Cels for sale. This is Aesop and Son which was a parody of Aesop's Fables. It premiered in 1962 and the very first episode was "The Lion and the Mouse." While these Scene Cels were normally sold unsigned, this one bears three important signatures: studio head, Jay Ward (1920 - 1989); longtime Bullwinkle director, Bill Hurtz (1919 -2000); and Emmy-winning director, Gerard Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin also went on to direct George of the Jungle episodes. These hand-inked characters stand 4" and 5" tall. The cel is matted with a opening of 9.5" x 12" with an overall mat of 16" x 20". Three signatures on a Dudley Do Right Emporium 12 field cel is very, very rare! Condition is Fine.
