The Lion King Young Simba and Nala in the Elephant Graveyard Presentation Cel with Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1994). Playful cubs Simba and Nala stumble into the Elephant's Graveyard and encounter three hungry, sharp-toothed hyenas - Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed, in this scene from Disney's 1994 renaissance classic The Lion King. Here's an absolutely amazing cel setup, including a specially-created hand-painted presentation cel of the lion cubs running for safety with two hand-painted production cel underlays of the elephant skeleton. Wow! This film was animated digitally, but a number of special cels paired with production backgrounds were originally sold in a 1995 New York City auction, "The Art of the Lion King." This is an enormous setup from that special auction, and a real knockout. The image of Simba and Nala against the elephant backbone can be found in the film at the 21:09 mark, in close-up. The background artists for this film included Kathy Altieri, Sunny Apinchapong, Barry Atkinson, Brooks Campbell, Dan Cooper, Greg Drolette, Debbie Du Bois, Natalie Franscioni-Karp, Michael Humphries, Barry Kooser, David McCamley, Serge Michaels, Patricia Palmer-Phillipson, Peter Phillipson, Richard Sluiter, and Thomas Woodington. The art image measures approximately 23.5" x 17.5", and the setup is matted and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 33" x 27". All frames are sold as-is.
