Description

The Lion King Presentation Cel and Pan Production Background (Walt Disney, 1994). "There, there, on that tree" says Zazu to Mufasa. "Hold on Simba" yells Mufasa. Production cels were not used in making The Lion King, however all the backgrounds were hand-painted. A series of one-of-a-kind presentation cels were hand-painted by the world famous Walt Disney Ink and Paint Department located on the studio lot in Burbank. These specially prepared cels were placed on their matching production backgrounds for the "Art of Lion King" Auction, held in New York City on February 11, 1995. This is an outstanding five foot pan production background of the Wildebeest and a hand-painted cel of Simba running in fear. The cel was created from this film's original archived animation drawings. This lot was similar to Auction lot 110. It was an alternative lot prepared for the sale, but was sold to a Disney Studio Executive. A Disney COA is on the back of the frame. This impressive cel and production background setup is in a 64" x 20" glass-front frame with a mat opening of 10" x 54". This is a multi-cel setup and one of the most impressive Lion King animation art pieces we have seen. The highly anticipated live action version of this film opens in 2019. Frame is sold as-is. Artwork is in Very Good condition.
