The Hunchback of Notre Dame Quasimodo and Esmeralda Presentation Cel with Production Background (Disney, 1996). This Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale-directed film was Disney's 34th animated feature and 7th of what has been called the Disney Renaissance. It was released in the summer of 1996, with a major premier in New Orleans and turned out to be the 5th highest grossing film of the year. No cels were used to make the film, so presentation cels made from production drawings were hand-painted at Disney's Ink and Paint Department and paired with original production backgrounds. These one-of-a-kind setups were sold at auction in New York on 6/21/97. This is lot #90 from that sale and showcases Quasimodo and Esmeralda at the Festival of Fools and the characters measure 4" and 8" tall respectively. Artwork from this auction rarely comes up for sale. The presentation cel bears a Disney seal and is over a stunning hand-painted production background. The art is in a 24" x 19" frame with a mat opening of 16" x 11" and a COA on back. Condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as is,
