Description

The Herculoids VHS Cover Cel, Layout Drawing, and Print (Hanna-Barbera, c. 1990s). The Herculoids gave Hanna-Barbera Saturday-morning cartoons a fantastical sci-fi twist with its focus on space barbarian Zandor and his family, as well as their pets called the Herculoids. The show was created by Alex Toth, who also created Space Ghost. Zandor and three of the Herculoids are featured in this design. Zandor rides atop Tundro with a focused look on his face, as Igoo walks beside him and Zok flies above. This art was created for a VHS release by Hanna-Barbera Home Video in the 1990s. This group comes with the original layout drawing for the cover, the hand-painted cover cel, and a color print of the final image. The layout is rendered with graphite and blue pencil on 10.5" x 13.25" paper (a trimmed paper piece was used to redraw part of the image and affixed on the paper, but the image is complete). It includes the design for the whole front cover, including the title. The cel depicts the four characters in various dramatic poses, with an impressive overall image size of 6.5" x 7". The print measures 10.5" x 13.25". The cel is in Very Good condition, with minor handling and edge wear. The layout drawing is also in Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including a horizontal fold. The print is in Very Good condition.
