Tarzan Presentation Cel and Key Master Background Setup (Walt Disney, 1999). Twenty years ago Tarzan premiered at the El Capitan theater and is considered to be the last of the Disney Renaissance films. It was a box office smash and had spinoffs on Broadway, television and two direct-to-video sequels. No cels were used to make the film, so presentation cels made from production drawings were hand-painted at the Disney's Ink and Paint Department and paired with original production backgrounds. These one-of-a-kind setups were sold at auction in New York on June 29, 2000. This is lot #116 from that sale and it features Tarzan picking flowers in the jungle for Jane. This artwork is comprised of both hand-painted overlays and underlays of jungle flora combined with a presentation cel and production background. The full setup measures an impressive 17" x 19.5" and the detail in the background is truly stunning. The artwork is in a frame of 23" x 22" with a mat opening of 14" x 13" and a COA is affixed to the back. Condition is Very Good and the frame is sold as-is.
