Description

Mr. Peabody Scene Cel Signed by Jay Ward (Jay Ward, c. 1970s-80s). Jay Ward (1920 - 1989) and his family ran the Dudley Do-Right Emporium, a gift and souvenir shop located on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, a short distance from the Jay Ward Productions office building. At the Emporium, you could purchase specialty hand-inked, hand-painted "Scene cels" of Ward's many cartoon characters, and here's a superb Scene cel of time-traveling Mr. Peabody, from the Rocky and Bullwinkle segment Peabody's Improbable History. It's an extra-large image of the bespectacled pooch, complete with his red bowtie. The image size is approximately 4.75" x 6.5". Whenever Jay himself was in the Emporium, he would hand-sign cels on request, and this one has his inscription "Best Wishes!" and his signature in the lower right corner of the cel. The signature has faded a bit but is still legible. The cel is placed on a color paper background and in a Jay Ward Productions mat with an opening size of 9" x 7". The matted cel is framed with glass for an overall size of 13.25" x 10.25", with a Jay Ward mailing label on the back side. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The cel is in Very Good condition with minor handling wear.
