Dudley Do-Right, Snidely Whiplash, and Nell Fenwick Scene Cel (Jay Ward/ASIFA, c. 1980s). Snidely Whiplash, that green-hued grifter and scallywag, has abducted Inspector Fenwick's daughter Nell, and here's our fearless hero coming to her rescue - Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties! This colorful Scene cel, the kind originally sold at Jay Ward's Dudley Do-Right Emporium gift shop on Sunset Blvd. from 1971 until 2005, was one of the fund-raising items sold to benefit the ASIFA-Hollywood. Known in the US as the International Animated Film Society, the ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d'Animation) was formed in France in 1960 to unite animators from around the globe. The Hollywood chapter has held auctions to continue the group's dedication to supporting the art of animation, including the Annie Awards presented each year since 1972. This great Jay Ward Productions item is a hand-inked, hand-painted specialty cel of the feature first seen as part of Rocky and His Friends. Dudley and his mighty hammer measures approximately 3.75" x 5.5"; Snidely and Nell have a combined image size of 4.75" x 4.75". The background is a print, added for presentation purposes; however, the trees behind Dudley and Nell are painted on cel. The cel, which includes an ASIFA-Hollywood silver seal in the upper right, is matted with an opening of approximately 11.25" x 9.25" and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 20" x 18". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The cel condition is Very Good to Fine with light handling.More information about Jay Ward Studios.
