Description

Dudley Do-Right and Horse Scene Cel with Painted Background (Jay Ward, 1988). "Pardon me, sir, but do you happen to know the way to the Royal Canadian Mountie camp?" Wrong-way Dudley rides backward on his horse named Horse in this outstanding hand-inked, hand-painted Scene cel. Specialty cels like this one were originally sold at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium, a gift shop in Hollywood run by Jay Ward (1920 - 1989) and his staff; the store was open from 1971 to 2005 and was located just down the street from the Jay Ward Productions office. In this cel, Dudley and Horse have a combined image area of approximately 7.5" x 6.75"; the cel includes a Jay Ward Productions seal in the lower right corner. The cel is placed on a hand-painted production background from an unspecified cartoon; it's matted with an opening of 11" x 8.5" with an overall mat size of 14" x 11.5". The cel and background are in Very Good to Fine condition with light handling wear.
