Description

Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines Dick Dastardly, Muttley, and Yankee Doodle Pigeon Publicity Cel and Custom Background Signed by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera (Hanna-Barbera, c. 1980s/90s). "Drat, and double drat!" (and occasionally) "Triple drat!" says the handlebar-mustachioed, villainous, race car driver/pilot, and all-round bad guy Dick Dastardly. This is a fantastically rare publicity cel featuring Dastardly, Muttley and Yankee Doodle Pigeon from Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines. Dastardly was initially voiced by Paul Winchell in the style of gap-toothed English actor Terry-Thomas. Muttley was Dastardly's scruffy sidekick known for his mischievous, rasping laugh, voiced by Don Messick. Archival laugh recordings by Messick are still used today. Also, featured in this publicity cel is messenger pigeon named Yankee Doodle Pigeon. The original working title of the film was Stop That Pigeon. Dastardly and Muttley, the villains from Wacky Races, are now flying aces in World War I-styled airplanes, on a mission to catch the aloof squad. This fantastic publicity setup is comprised of a hand-painted 12 field cel over a custom hand-painted 13" x 10.5" background. The cel is signed by studio founders Bill Hanna (1910 - 2001) and Joe Barbera (1911 - 2006). Some light paint specks from the background are stuck to the cel. Otherwise, the piece is presented in Very Good condition.
