Cap'n Crunch Publicity Cel on Studio Painted Background (Jay Ward, c. 1960's/70's). "Rah! Rah! Team! Go! Go! Go!" shouts this spectacular fur coat-wearing polar bear as The Cap'n gawks in amazement. This incredible hand-inked, hand-painted publicity cel featuring The Cap'n and a cheerleading polar bear with a mega-phone and flag is on a Master hand-painted studio background and all that is known about the mysterious bear character is that he was created to promote Cap'n Crunch's Frozen Delight, a product which never made it past the test marketing stage. This artwork once hung in the offices of a former Marketing Director for Quaker Oats and is likely one of a kind. Jay Ward collectors know that actual art from Jay Ward Studios is incredibly rare and a cel with the entire crew on a matching hand-painted background showcasing an unknown character makes this a collector's dream! It is matted and framed under glass with a mat opening of 8.25" x 11.5" in a frame measuring 13.75" x 16.5". Frame is scratched and sold as-is; otherwise, condition is Fine.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
