Beauty and the Beast Gaston Painted Presentation Cel with Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1991). This box office smash film was re-released in 2002 for an IMAX version that included the new musical number "Human Again." The film also had several direct-to-video films, a television series, and a global hit Broadway play and live-action movie. On Saturday, October 17, 1992 at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles, "The Art of Beauty and the Beast" Auction was held. One-of-one presentation cels created from original archived artwork and painted at the Disney Ink and Paint Department located on the studio lot were sold on their hand-painted Key Master backgrounds. This lot is when Gaston is recovering from his public humiliation when Belle refuses to marry him. Gaston nurses his wounds in a local tavern, when LeFou arrives and asks "More beer?" This is lot #85 from the Beauty and the Beast auction. The one-of-one presentation cel is on a Key Master hand-painted production background of the tavern. Bottom border is labeled Seq. 8/Scene 4 and the name DUBOIS. This stunning background may have been painted by Debbie DuBois. Overall setup is 9.5" x 13". In a mat of 20" x 16" with a mat opening of 12" x 9". Disney seal is on the cel. Artwork is in Very Good condition.
