Description

Beauty and the Beast Belle Presentation Cel (Walt Disney, 1991). "Belle, it's about time you got your head out of those books." Gaston says to Belle in the OSCAR®-winning feature film. At the 64th Academy Awards in 1992, Beauty and the Beast became the first animated feature to receive a nomination for the highest honor, Best Picture. This is a presentation cel depicting Belle at home enjoying a book she picked up earlier in the film. We see this image near the 18:06 time mark just before Gaston arrives at Belle's home to convince her to marry him. This is a fantastic piece, hand-painted at Disney's world-famous Ink and paint Department for a special VIP exhibit. The 16 field cel is presented over a background copy for presentation purpose. The setup comes to auction from the collection of Disney's former president of Feature Animation, Peter Schneider. Schneider is largely credited with turning Feature Animation around and launching the Disney Renaissance while creating some of the most critically acclaimed and highest grossing animated features including Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), The Little Mermaid (1989), Aladdin (1992), and the highest domestic grossing animated film of all time The Lion King (1994). The setup contains a Disney seal in the lower right. Because Beauty and the Beast was nearly completely hand-drawn on paper that was then scanned, painted and composited via computer, there are no production cels, making presentation cels like these so valued and prized by collectors. In Very Good condition.
From the President of Disney Feature Animation (1986 - 1999) Peter Schneider Collection.
