Description
Aladdin RARE Genie Presentation Cel (Walt Disney, 1992). "Aladdin. Hello, Aladdin. Nice to have you on the show." Here's a rare presentation cel featuring Genie performing for Aladdin, Carpet, and Abu. Aladdin was not traditionally animated using hand-painted cels but rather hand-drawn, scanned and composited via computer. Because of this there were no production cels created so, the studio created presentation cels like this one using the original drawings and source material. Created for an exhibition and studio display, this 16 field presentation cel was hand-inked and hand-painted at Disney's renowned Ink and Paint Department located on the studio lot in Burbank. It features amazing airbrush work on a nice large 9" image of Genie. Due to contractual provisions, not many Genie images appear on cel. The cel is presented over a 22" x 17" print of the original background with an image area of 19" x 14". We see this image in the film near the 36:08 time stamp after Genie has been freed from his lamp. This rare presentation cel comes to auction from the private collection of Peter Schneider. Widely regarded as one of the principals involved with Feature Animation's revival era, former president Peter Schneider was instrumental in ushering in Disney's Renaissance.
