"Mr. Peabody and Sherman" Scene Cel Signed by Jay Ward (Jay Ward, c. 1970s-80s). The classic Rocky and his Friends TV series included a segment called "Peabody's Improbable History," created by Hazel artist Ted Key. Here are the stars of that much-loved cartoon segment, Mr. Peabody and his "pet boy" Sherman. This duo had a feature film made about them in 2014 by DreamWorks, which was followed by a Netflix cartoon series. This a rare hand-painted Scene Cel of Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Scene cels were sold at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium located next to Jay Ward Studio at 8200 Sunset Blvd. With most all of the original show's cels done in Mexico and thrown out, scene cels were painted of the Jay Ward characters and sold at the store. If you asked, and if he was at the Studio at the time, Jay Ward would walk out and sign it. The Emporium was open from 1971 to 2005. This is a rare Peabody and Sherman Emporium Scene Cel, hand-signed by Jay Ward (1943 - 1989). This is also a rare Blond Sherman. He had blond hair in a few of the cereal commercials; usually, his hair is red. Images are 4" and 5". The cel also has the WABAC ("way back") Machine. Framed with glass and matted with a mat opening of 11" x 10"; overall frame size is 17" x 16". Fine condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
