Song of the South Premiere Program (Walt Disney, 1946). Song of the South had its World Premiere on November 12, 1946 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA. It also had a weeklong series of events that drew thousands. There was a free-standing Walt Disney Studio Animation exhibit set up near the theater, a dedication by Walt Disney of an Uncle Remus Cabin at The Wren's Nest (former home of author Joel Chandler Harris), and an Armistice Day Parade which debuted the characters from the film. Notables who attended the premiere included Art Linkletter, Clarence Nash, Pinto Colvig, Adriana Caselotti, and Cliff Edwards, as well as the cast from Song of the South. The premiere benefited charities overseen by Atlanta's Junior League and the Uncle Remus Memorial Society's renovation of Wren's Nest. This is the elaborate Premiere Program for the Fox Theater event; it measures 13" x 9.5" with sixty pages of ads and promotional information about the movie. Light surface dirt, minor handling, edge and spine wear are present, but the pages intact. Condition is Good.
