Description

Disneyland - "Columbia" 36" x 54" Hand-Pulled Silk-Screened Park Attraction Poster (Walt Disney, 1958). Silk-screened Disneyland park attraction poster for Frontierland's "Sailing Ship Columbia," designed by Björn Aronson. The bold marquee text beckons: "Sail aboard the full-rigged 3-masted sailing ship Columbia - A voyage of discoveries on the Rivers of America." Hand-pulled as a serigraph, the poster showcases richly layered inks and crisp registration, sized an impressive 36" x 54". This design is documented in Poster Art of Disney Parks by Danny Handke and Vanessa Hunt (see p. 54), underscoring its status among the resort's most iconic wayfinding graphics. The Columbia at Disneyland is a full-scale tribute to the Columbia Rediviva, the first American ship to circumnavigate the globe. Walt Disney enlisted construction supervisor and former naval admiral Joe Fowler to select an inspiring historic vessel; WED researchers, working from scarce period imagery and Library of Congress resources, shaped the Columbia's authentic lines. Since its debut, the ship has circled the Rivers of America on a scenic 12-minute voyage and moonlights as a pirate ship during the nighttime Disneyland spectacular Fantasmic! A striking, large-format original with superb display presence. Minor handling and edge wear. It comes rolled. In Very Good condition.
