"Pirates of the Caribbean" WED Studio-Only Ride Map (Walt Disney, 1967). This landmark tourist attraction first opened in New Orleans Square on 3/18/67. It boasts 75 audio-animatronic pirates and villagers, five animals and birds, and houses 630,000 gallons of water. It is a staple of virtually every Disney Theme Park globally. It also is the inspiration for five blockbuster live-action movies starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. When this attraction opened, a 50-page magazine entitled Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean/Disneyland -- "The Story of a Robust New Adventure in New Orleans Square" was sold at the park. It told the story of this ride and showcased extensive artwork and behind-the-scenes making of this attraction. Both the opening and closing pages had an extensive WED map of the entire ride sequence. This lot is something special. Created from the master negative used to make one of the most famous promotional publications ever sold at Disneyland, here is a framed Pirates of the Caribbean Ride Map that is shown twice in the magazine. This is from the personal collection of a longtime Disney Executive. This piece was never sold to the public in this size and format. Framed with glass for an overall size of 51" x 31.5". Frame is sold as-is. Minor handling wear. overall condition Very Good.
