Description

Porky Pig Studio Model Sheet Original Artwork (Warner Brothers, 1947). Porky Pig was the brainchild of legendary animator, Friz Freleng (1906 - 1995). The stuttering swine would receive several makeovers through the years by the likes of Frank Tashlin, Bob Clampett, Chuck Jones, and Tex Avery. Porky made his first appearance on 3/2/35 in the short I Haven't Got a Hat. In this lot we have an absolutely amazing piece of animation art. This is the original published model sheet for Porky Pig used by Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002). The piece consists of four 12 field animation sheets dated October 1947, rendered in graphite. Mr. Jones used this model sheet for 1948's Scaredy Cat, 1947's Little Orphan Airdale and other Porky Pig shorts made during this time. You will see a photocopy of this model sheet in the book, That's All Folks! The Art of Warner Brothers Animation by Steve Schneider. Model sheets are considered very rare and highly desirable by discerning collectors. The artwork is floated in a frame of 35" x 29" with a mat opening of 24" x 19.5". Frame sold as-is. Age-related toning, normal handling and edge wear. Otherwise, Very Good condition. This lot will have to ship from Dallas to the winning bidder. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE ORIGINAL ARTWORK AND NOT A PRINT.
