Porky Pig and Friends Studio Publicity Art Group of 7 (Warner Brothers c. 1935-37). "Tha - tha - tha - that's not all folks!" With the loss of Bosko (and soon Buddy), Leon Schlesinger was looking for new stars for his animation division. Porky Pig would make his debut on 3/2/35 in the Friz Freleng short, I Haven't Got a Hat, and become the studios biggest star. In this lot is a group of SEVEN rare pen and ink studio publicity pieces featuring the new stars of Looney Tunes. The artwork would be used for fan cards, lobby cards and other studio promotional materials. All are pen and ink with gouache on 11" x 9.5" board. The lot includes original one-of-a-kind artwork of Porky Pig, Petunia Pig, Daffy Duck, Oliver Owl, Sammy Sparrow, Fluffnums, and Gabby Goat. Four pieces are dated 1937, and three are dated 1935. Some of the earliest studio publicity artwork we have seen from this era. Minor handling, surface and edge wear. Otherwise, condition is Good.
