    Popeye the Sailor Meets Sinbad the Sailor Skull Island Painted Background (Max Fleischer, 1936). Original hand-painted Master production background of Skull Island from the Academy Award-nominated Popeye short. The background is from the first of three full-color Popeye "Special Shorts." It measures approximately 13" x 17" and is labeled "Sc-18," and can be seen at the 7:30 mark. This classic short was directed by Dave Fleischer and released on 2/27/36. Artwork from this short is very scarce. Minor edge and handling wear, with small pieces missing from the corners, and some tape residue; otherwise, in Very Good condition.
