Description

Plane Crazy Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1928/29). The Mickey Mouse short Plane Crazy was first shown as a silent film, to a test audience on May 15, 1928, making it technically the first-ever Mickey Mouse cartoon release. It was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks (who reportedly worked six straight weeks on this film with help from Hugh Harmon and Rudy Ising). Sound was added and the film was formally released to the general public on March 17, 1929 as the fourth Mickey Mouse short. This is a very rare original 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing of Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the plane as Mickey is joyriding to impress Minnie. Huge 7" image. This great drawing has the plane and the propeller, with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse holding on for dear life. You can see this drawing at about the 4:06 mark into the short. The number "279" is written in the bottom right corner, with a blue "75" stamped on the backside top corner. This Ub Iwerks original is a true piece of animation history. Minor handling and edge wear. Tiny missing paper in top border, otherwise Fine condition.

What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
