Plane Crazy Mickey and Minnie Mouse Animation Drawings by Ub Iwerks Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1928-29). This Mickey Mouse short was first shown as a silent film to a test audience on May 15th 1928. It had sound added and was then released on 3/17/29, making it the fourth Mickey Mouse short with sound. The short was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Ub reportedly worked six straight weeks on this short with the help of Hugh Harmon and Rudy Ising. This is a rare MATCHED set of two 12 field, 2-peghole animation drawings of Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the plane and a drawing of just the plane. You can see this image around the 4:12 mark when the plane is going up and down and out of control just before the plane passes the steeple. Poor Minnie is almost thrown out of the plane but holds on to Mickey for dear life! This match pair of Ub Iwerks (1901 - 1971) original animation drawings is a serious piece of Walt Disney Studio and Mickey Mouse history. Mickey and Minnie Mouse are an overall nice large image of 5". The drawing has the number 386 written in bottom right corner, but also written is W/322. Blue stamp number 125 is on back of drawing. The drawing of the plane from smoke to propeller is an unbelievable 10". This is one of the largest Plane Crazy drawings we have seen. The number 322 is written on bottom right corner. Blue Stamp number 165 is on back of drawing. When the drawings are held together, Mickey and Minnie line up perfectly to the plane. Some fading due to previous framing, minor handling and edge wear, overall Good condition.
