    Description

Pixie Picnic Production Cel (Walter Lantz, 1948). Here's one for rare cartoon lovers. This was a Musical Miniature theatrical short that was released on 5/1/48. This very rare and totally obscure cartoon has a lot going for it. It was directed by Dick Lundy, written by Ben Hardaway, and one of the animators was Disney's Fred Moore! (the dwarfs in this short sure do look like Snow White's dwarfs!) Here we have a hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of the drum-playing dwarf who has a woodpecker (looking a lot like Woody Woodpecker) playing on his drum. You can see this image about 46 seconds into the short. The cel is on a print background for presentation purposes. This is a hard one for hardcore Fred Moore fans to find. There is a Walter Lantz seal on the cel and it is also signed by Lantz (1899-1994). Handsomely matted with an image area of 11.5" x 9.5", the 4.5" tall dwarf is glass front framed to 20.5" x 19" and in Fine condition.
