    Description

Pinocchio Stromboli Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). This original 12 field 5-peghole final animation drawing of Stromboli, the nefarious Italian puppeteer, was created by a Walt Disney Studios animator in production of the great animated feature, and a cel painting was made directly from it. Animation of the scene was supervised by Vladimir "Bill" Tytla, Walt Disney's outstanding animator of the 1930s and 1940s, and the blue pencil underdrawing is his work. After he has tossed Pinocchio into the cage inside his wagon, Stromboli hefts an axe and runs his thumb along the blade while telling the star of his show that when he grows "too old -- you will make good firewood." The animator wrote the studio designation "59" at lower right to indicate this original's place in the scene; a studio stamp denoting production, sequence and scene numbers appears at lower right. Art is in graphite over blue pencil with red pencil highlights; image size is approximately 7" x 7". In Very Good condition with minor handling wear.
