Pinocchio Production Cel Setup and Full Pan Master Background (Walt Disney, 1940). This lot is something special, as you never see vintage Disney Progression setups! This is an original Master hand-painted production full pan (36" x 12") background of the Pool Hall on Pleasure Island. The reverse side of the background is stamped "Property of Walt Disney Productions," with an OK by Abe Woolery (later of UPA and Playhouse Pictures fame), dated by him as 12-9-39. It has a stamp showing Prod. 2003 Sequence 8.5 and Sc.26, plus an OK stamp that showcases three initial sign-offs. Placed on the pan background is an original full nitrate production cel of Pinocchio running, with #31 in the bottom right corner of the cel; Pinocchio is a nice 8" tall, with very minor paint chip loss in his right knee -- otherwise Fine. A second cel is a full figure Pinocchio on a trimmed cel of 7" x 7", with a slight paint chip in his hand and a slight separation line in the other hand; otherwise Fine. He's a nice 7" tall, although his left ear is incomplete on the trimmed cel, and is completed with a trimmed-to-image ear mounted on the background. A small Jiminy Cricket production cel is trimmed to the image and mounted on the background, with him standing on a chair, listening to Pinocchio. Jiminy is 2" tall. Overall condition is Fine.
