Pinocchio Pleasure Island Wooden Indian Concept/Layout Background Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). "It's all free boys! Cigars, cigarettes and chewing tobacco... come in and smoke your heads off, there's nobody to stop you!" yells the Pleasure Island barker at Tobacco Row. This outstanding background layout/concept drawing is of the Wooden Indians that hand out cigars to all the boys at Pleasure Island, right after they come off the boat to what they think is their own amusement park. Stunning detail in graphite on 12 field 5-peghole paper. Attached is the blue instruction sheet that has Seq. 8.1 Scene 3.1 with notes that read, "kids grabbing at wooden Indian as he throws cigars. Effects needed are smoke Indian's arm and cigars." This image is in Christopher Finch's Art of Disney on Page 222. The detail on this piece showcases the quality level of this masterpiece of a film. Blue notes stapled to 12 feet sheet. Art area on 12 field paper is 10" x 8". Minor handling and edge wear. Fine condition.
