Pinocchio Geppetto's Bedroom Production Background (Walt Disney, 1940). "Now what's going on? Hey what's going on here?" asks Jimmy Cricket, just before the Blue Fairy makes her appearance. This is a preliminary production pan background of Geppetto's bedroom. The window has been opened for Geppetto by Figaro, and you can see the stars where the Wishing Star is. Portions of this background type can be seen at 16:41 when the Blue Fairy enters, at 23:06 when Geppetto wakes and walks with candle and gun to check out the noise, and again when Geppetto goes to sleep with the newly-alive Pinocchio. Backgrounds for this film were painted by Claude Coats, Merle Cox, Ed Starr, and Ray Huffine. We believe this one to be preliminary, but sections of it may have gone under the camera. Regardless, this is from the Pinocchio production and it is a stunning painting and a true work of art. The piece is framed with a mat opening of 9" x 23" and the overall frame measuring 20.5" x 34.25". The artwork has been trimmed and mounted to illustration board. Condition is Fine.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
