Pinocchio Cockaigne/Pleasure Island "Furniture Carving" Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1940). The earliest work on this film had Pinocchio explore author Carlo Collodi's mythical land of Cockaigne. The first drafts of this film told a completely different story than the final drafts. This is one of the earliest pieces of concept/story art from this film we have seen come up. Amazing detail that showcases "Pleasure Island" bad behavior. "Please carve your name on furniture" reads the sign in this drawing. It's funny how most the names being carved on the furniture are reflective of names of studio artists and employees! Art is in graphite with major color pencil highlights, on a 12" x 9.5" trimmed sheet. The number 26 is circled on bottom border. Minor handling and edge wear, a slight border tape stain, and pinholes in corners; the majority of the artwork area is unaffected. Extremely rare! Good condition.
