Pete's Dragon Elliott Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1977).
Pete's Dragon was originally envisioned as a two-part episode for the Disneyland television series in 1957. The project was shelved until 1975 when the concept was revived as a live-action musical comedy featuring an animated dragon named Elliott. Pete's Dragon was released on November 3, 1977 and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. The film was produced by Ron Miller, Walt's son-in-law who would become president of the Walt Disney Company the following year. From Pete's Dragon we have a fantastic production cel of Elliot. The piece is hand-painted on 16 field acetate. The cel was laminated by the Walt Disney Studios and has the company seal on the piece. This production cel is over 40 years old! A mat measuring 17" x 13" is included in the lot however the cel is not affixed to the mat. The mat is sold as-is. The artwork is in Very Good condition.
