    Pedro, The Story of a Little Airplane Book Illustrations Original Art Group of 3 (Walt Disney/Grosset & Dunlap, 1943). Pixar had a couple of hit animated movies called Cars (2006) and Planes (2013), and both movies owe a lot to the story of little mail plane "Pedro," the second segment from Disney's feature film Saludos Amigos (1943). It was released separately in 1955. Here are three large illustrations from a 1943 storybook about Pedro, prepared for Disney by the Artists & Writers Guild. The expressive artwork features two images of Pedro as he battles the wind and rain near the high mountain Aconcagua in Argentina, a place he was warned to stay clear of. The third illustration shows Pedro's worried mother and father, their sad eyes cast upward, fearful that their son has been lost. The art is painted in gray tones and white gouache on heavy illustration board measuring 13.5" x 15"; overall image sizes are 10.5" x 12.5". Very cool vintage artwork! Condition is Very Good with handling and edge wear.
