Peanuts It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Linus Production Cel with Master Background (Bill Melendez, 1966). This landmark television special was only the third to feature Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. It premiered on 10/27/66 on CBS. This is an extremely rare 12 field hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Linus kicking the leaves, as he and Lucy head out to buy a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch. This is the opening scene of this special. You can see this cel at 21 seconds in to the show, and it is set up against a great Vince Guaraldi score before the opening credits appear. Great full-figure image of Linus with his signature blanket, with a size of 3". The cel is on a pre-production or trimmed Master background by Dean Spille from this special. It is not on camera, but done for this show. Similar trees and leaves in the background are seen throughout the special, especially in the "Linus jumps in the pile of leaves" scene. This Master setup is in a Plexiglas-front frame measuring 18" x 15" with a mat opening of 12" x 9". Frame is sold as-is, cel and background condition is Very Good.
