    Description

Water Babies Original Production Background (Walt Disney, 1935). This fan-favorite Silly Symphony short was directed by Wilfred Jackson and released on 5/11/35. It proved so popular a sequel of sorts called Merbabies was released in 1938. This is an outstanding 12 field hand-painted production background from the opening scene of the cartoon. The short opens with a view of the meadow, surrounding foliage, and lily pads. A cel overlay would have been used in right bottom area to show spider web and other foliage. NOTE: The overlay cel is not with the background. Gouache on 12 field, 2-peghole background board. Great colors! Silly Symphony backgrounds from this era are hard to find. Beautiful painting in its own right. Minor handling and edge wear, overall Very Good condition.
