To Hare is Human Painted Production Background Signed by Maurice Noble (Warner Brothers, 1955). "Eh... whatcha got in the bag, Doc?" asks Bugs Bunny to Wile E. Coyote in this short written by Mike Maltese and directed by Chuck Jones. This is the same short where Wile E. presents his business card upon which is simply printed "Wile E. Coyote Genius, have brain, will travel." This is an outstanding hand-painted background layout of the desert where Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote meet. This exact background can be seen in the very first scene of this short, right after the opening title credits at the 0:29 mark. It's a remarkable study of color by the master, Maurice Noble. This painting can also be seen on page 156 in the book The Noble Approach -- Maurice Noble and the Zen of Animation Design. This is the last Looney Tunes theatrical short animated at Warner Brothers fabled Termite Terrace. This hand-painted gouache background layout is signed by Maurice Noble in the bottom right corner and is in a glass-front frame measuring 16" x 20", with a mat opening of 10" x 14". The frame is sold as-is, and the condition of the piece is Very Good.
