The Roman Holidays Production Backgrounds, Bob "Yoshi" Inman (Hanna-Barbera, 1972). Amazing backgrounds from The Roman Holidays, depict two scenes of "ancient" Rome, painted by long-time UPA/ Hanna-Barbera background painter and color-stylist, Bob "Yoshi" Inman. Hanna-Barbera had found prior success with its family-centered sitcoms The Flintstones and The Jetsons, set in the stone age and the space age, respectively - they figured, why not try ancient Rome as well? The show aired on Saturday mornings during the fall season of 1972 and featured the comical trials and travails of average ancient Roman family, the Holidays. The first shows your average, everyday Roman living room - complete with television set (!) and smoking volcano (perhaps Vesuvius?) visible through a window. The second is of a cityscape, seen from a hilltop, with a large temple in the foreground, and a multi-terraced, multi-columned parking garage in the distance - for all those old-time Roman cars, you know? Beautiful, cool palette color scheme used for both, with lots of intricate detail and shading effects. They have been matted, one on top of the other, on matt board. The matt openings measure 13" x 10". Both are rendered in gouache on illustration board and are in Fine condition.
