The Green Line Background Art Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1944). Here are two hand-painted backgrounds from this cartoon short about the town called "Nowhere." The town had a green line through the middle of it. One side lived the mice, and the other side was nothing but cats... until one cat decided to cross over and give chase, after prompting from a "Pied Piper" devil cat. This was the thirteenth Mighty Mouse cartoon, directed by Eddie Donnelly and released on 7/7/44. The first background is noted as Sc 8A, and shows the green line on the cobblestone street as is curves around a garbage can; while there are similar scenes right after the 1:00 mark, we were not able to find this one. The second, marked Sc 25, shows a box of tacks the mice hide in, and emerge with tack armor; it can be found at the 2:25 mark. Both are attractive backgrounds that could work with other cels. Art is in gouache/watercolor on skimmed boards with Terrytoons stamps on the back. The Sc 8A piece has an upper right corner crease, and a staple in the upper unpainted margin; both have minor handling wear. Good to Very Good condition.
