The Black Cauldron Painted Pan Production Background by James Coleman (Walt Disney, 1985). James Coleman is known worldwide for his Fine Art paintings that are seen in art galleries everywhere. Before launching his Fine Art career, he was a longtime Walt Disney Feature Animation background painter. He was Color Stylist as well as background painter on this film. One can see why his Fine Art career is so successful in this hand-painted pan production background of the Horned King's Castle. This is a stunning gouache on pan background, on board measuring 30" x 12.5". This is for sequence 003 Scene 145. A Disney Studio stamp is on the reverse, and a clear sheet of acetate over the background. A magnificent piece of artwork on its own right! Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Collection.
