    Description

    The Beatles Yellow Submarine Pepperland Pan Production Background with Cel Overlays Setup (United Artists/King Features, 1968). "Once upon a time, or maybe twice, there was an unearthly paradise called Pepperland. 80,000 leagues beneath the sea it lay, or lie." This lot is a sheer Pepperland treasure. This is a rare 34" x 13" pan hand-painted production background. It has the Pepperland People when they are unfrozen on overlay cels. Background bottom border is written "LOVE 1 Scene 14." This is one of the most complex Master cel setups we have seen! Background is painted in watercolor on light board with extensive cels of the Pepperland people. They become unfrozen when the Beatles transform into Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and "All You Need is Love" is played. The people turn from gray to the wonderful array of Pepperland colors. The Blue Meanies are then defeated shortly after. Pan background setups for this film are very rare! Tape on border and minor handling, otherwise Very Good condition.
